I often try to not live with regret, but before I take my leave and walk across the graduation stage, I want to leave some advice for the incoming freshmen.
For starters, do not take any year of high school lightly. During my freshman year and even before then I had constantly heard about how difficult and important the 11th grade year was from my father. I didn’t attack each year with the same intensity and that showed on my grade point average (GPA). The 11th grade year was the hardest, but I did my best because I had been mentally preparing myself for it for a very long time. Because I didn’t put forth my best effort in my previous years, I won’t be ending high school with my goal of a 3.7 or 4.0 GPA.
I also know that if I had worked harder in the ninth and tenth grade, I possibly would have been accepted into a few more colleges. You leave a lot of money on the table when you settle for less in high school so always hold yourself to a high standard and aim for the best grades possible. Do assignments before getting on your favorite video game. Also do assignments before picking up your phone to scroll on social media. Prioritize your work. When you choose to complete work before doing your favorite activities it helps build a good working habit before leaving high school. Bad habits are hard to break, so start good habits before you have to deal with negative ones.
If you work hard in high school, you will reap the rewards in every aspect of life. Go through high school expecting nothing but the best from yourself and with that mindset you will succeed.
